Financial Institution Minimizes Server Overhead and Gains Disaster Recovery with Help from Ideal Integrations

Ideal Integrations recently helped a local financial institution to minimize their need for servers and in the process gave them adaptable disaster recovery and business continuity solutions that can grow with their busniess.

Beginning the process, their set of concerns was a common one; a difficult to manage technological infrastructure with too many servers, many of whic were out of date and underpowered, a disaster recovery solution that was complex and took too much time to complete, and a limited budget to fix as much of it as possible.

Once this list of problems was brought to Ideal, our design engineers took on the process of finding an affordable solution that would provide them with solutions to these problems and more.

Combining the technologies of two of our premier partners, VMWare and Compellent, Ideal was able to put together a solution that reduced the quantity of servers from over twenty to four, and provided a complete disaster recovery solution as well. With Compellent Storage Area Networks and two physical servers running VMWare Virtual Infrastructure Enterprise at each of their two locations, the organization is able to host its entire IT infrastructure at the main location, while having with a complete copy of it running at a second location- If a disaster were to strike at either site, the entire organization could continue to work with little or no downtime.

In addition, their IT infrastructure is now more scalable than ever. New servers and applications can be rolled out in hours instead of days and weeks. Patches can be applied, and servers can be upgraded without downtime. Also, network management requires less resources, freeing up their IT staff for more important project work. This entire solution was purchased and implemented without going over budget, and the end result is even better than had been expected.
